RESPONSIBLE FOR:

The Cardiovascular Clinical Nurse Specialist functions independently as an advanced practitioner to implement the roles of practitioner, educator, consultant, coordinator, and researcher within the Cardiovascular units. In these five role components, the CV CNS has responsibilities as a change agent, collaborator, and liaison between patients, nurses, physicians, and other health care services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Professional nurse prepared at the Master's level by an accredited school of nursing. Current licensure in the state of Georgia and current CCRN and ACLS credentials. A minimum of three years nursing experience in Cardiovascular nursing clinical practice; recent experience in caring for patients undergoing heart transplantation is preferred. Has an in-depth understanding of the role components of the CNS (practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher) and how to apply these roles in the clinical setting. Maintains an up-to-date knowledge of current trends, nursing practices, and research related to Cardiovascular care.
