Phoenix, Arizona - On Saturday, some 3,000 students will turn their tassels at Grand Canyon University’s 2007 Commencement- truly a significant life event for all of the graduates and their families.  But for ten of those students, the event marks an accomplishment that is as equally fulfilling professionally, blending personal success with that of their organization; those ten are the first employees of Jobing.com (a leading media provider of locally-focused recruiting, online job search and talent management solutions) to participate in a graduation ceremony at the arena that bears their company’s name.

WHEN: Saturday, May 5, 2:00 PM

WHERE: Jobing.com Arena, 9400 West Maryland Avenue Glendale, AZ, 85303

    BACKGROUND:

For Jobing.com, implementing a tuition assistance program for employees in 2005 was a no-brainer.  With under 60 employees in the company at the time, the Phoenix start-up was focused on developing leadership and management teams with the ability to move the organization forward in a high-growth industry.  That focus brought a unique opportunity that would allow Jobing.com to do more than just provide tuition assistance; the company launched its first advanced degree program, partnering with the Ken Blanchard College of Business at Grand Canyon University for an executive level MBA.

“At Jobing.com we believe that employee rewards are much more than the traditional benefits package,” said CEO Aaron Matos.  “That's why we've focused our efforts on the employee's personal and professional development, wellness and future.”

By partnering with Grand Canyon University, leaders at Jobing.com were able to offer a fully-paid-tuition program that would allow qualified staff to earn an MBA while balancing demanding work and personal lives.

Jobing.com has seen remarkable growth since this first group of students, also called a “cohort,” entered the program, now operating in 17 U.S. markets with some 370 staff.  Fifty of today’s Jobing.com staff are currently pursuing educational opportunities through similar partnerships at more than a dozen institutions.

“The Jobing.com MBA Cohort graduates are truly the epitome of what we are all about at the Ken Blanchard College of Business,” said Dr. Kathy Player, Dean.  “Our intent is to teach our students business strategies and background, but also teach them to lead organizations at a higher level.  Successful business is about leveraging the talents of individuals to benefit and grow the organization as a whole.  The success story behind Jobing.com has been in the power of its people and we have been incredibly honored to play a role in their success.”

“The continued success of our organization is dependent upon the dedication and skills of every employee,” Matos said.  “Through this educational partnership, and the many others we have since developed, we are empowering our staff to be leaders in this industry and improving their lives through education.  It is truly a win-win.”

In October last year, Jobing.com announced that it acquired the naming rights to Glendale Arena.  The partnership provides Jobing.com with an ideal vehicle for further extending and enhancing the value of its singular mission of being the resource-of-choice for connecting local employers with great local job seekers and, in turn, significantly impacting the local economy and workforce, according to Matos.
