Description

The Laboratory Assistant performs functions necessary to assist with preparation and storage of lab collection specimens including pick-up and accessioning of specimens, preparing slides, staining, coverslipping, filing slides and paper work. Exercises judgment in the interpretation and correlation of patient/specimen data. Has the ability to work and make sound decisions under stress. Communicates effectively. Offers support to coworkers in a team environment. Upholds all safety and infection control regulations. Offers support for the goals of the department. Provides patient care and/ or support activities appropriate to ages served primarily adults ages 18-65 or geriatric patients ages over 65. May also include care for infant age 0-1 year, child ages 1-12 years or adolescent ages 13-17 years.

The qualified applicant will have a High school graduate or equivalent. Medical laboratory experience preferred. Possesses the ability to follow written and verbal instructions exactly. Functions independently and has good organizational skills.
