Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or MA diploma with at least 4 years of primary care office experience with a very strong clinical background, including both Front and Back office responsibilities and Lab experience to float amongst several extremely busy, multi-provider group practices located in both Coweta and Fayette Counties. Performs a variety of clinical and non-clinical duties at the direction of the Practice Managers and/or physicians. The duties outlined will be done on an 'as needed' basis for the several PPG practices. Ability to perform duties associated with the Front Office, including but not limited to: Check-in/check-out duties: greeting patients or visitors; answering phones; scheduling appointments; patient registration and cashiering. May also be responsible for processing referrals and coordinating pre-certifications for procedures. Ability to perform clinical duties associated with the Back Office, including but not limited to: Escorting patients to exam rooms; obtaining vital signs and other pertinent patient history; accurate data entry into Electronic Medical Record; explaining procedures to patients; stocking/preparing exam rooms; performing EKG's, injections, and assisting physicians with other minor office procedures as indicated. Ability to perform duties associated with the Lab: Performs phlebotomy and other routine chemical, bacteriological, serological, and hematological procedures. Performs analysis or other evaluation in accordance with PMCC, CLIA and OSHA established standards. Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures. Conducts other designated lab testing. Stocks supplies, sterilizes instruments, and prepares equipment. Follows universal precautions at all times. Logs specimens and enters test results on forms or in computer; ability to use lab order entry software. Must be detail-oriented and organized. Basic knowledge of managed care plans, CPT and ICD-9 coding. Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in Front and Back office and Lab duties. Superior interpersonal, communication and customer service skills. Team player who is open to change and very flexible to cover others when needed with the ability to multi-task. Computer literacy required. NextGen and/or EMR experience a big plus and the ability to use lab order entry software a huge plus. Schedule flexibility to meet the needs of the practices is essential.
