Overview:
Plans, directs coordinates and evaluates in-service orientation and continuing education programs for professional nursing personnel. Develops schedules and conducts training programs for staff development, demonstrates and provides instruction in improved methods of nursing service and procedures.

Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Plans and coordinates Grow Your Own ProgramCoordinates clinical orientation for new staff.Serve as a clinical resource person for staff and members of the health care team.Develops and/or revises policies, procedures and protocols and educates staff accordingly.Coordinates formal/informal educational offerings for staff and members of the community.Participates in rounds to ensure compliance with standards of practice.Participates in departmental/hospital-wide committees and performance improvement activities.Coordinates annual competency validation for staff.Evaluates patient care and outcomes and implements quality measures as necessary.Maintains real-time readiness by ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies (JCAHO, OSHA, HCFA).Coordinate/participates in departmental and hospital-wide performance improvement activities. Develop and enhance preceptor roleCollaboratively participate on the Oversight Council. Share knowledge gained with colleagues.Participate on unit-based Partnership Council and encourage attendance at meetings.Provide patient care on the unit as needed.

QUALITIFICATIONS:Required qualifications include a Bachelor Degree in Nursing from of an accredited school of nursing and three years job related experience. Current Georgia license to practice as a registered nurse. Additional required qualifications include computer skills in MS Word and MS Excel. Preferred qualifications include experience in directing, teaching and supervising nursing personnel; Masters Degree in Nursing.
