Jobing Description
This position will drive significant changes in the payroll department, focusing on efficiency, automation, and documentation. In addition, the position will manage the transition of the New York payroll processes to Alpharretta, lead the payroll functions regarding integration of new schools/acquisitions and review/update the policies and procedures handled by the payroll department.

Skills / Requirements
  • Lead the transition of the Kaplan Inc payroll processes from New York to Alpharetta and function in the same capacity with new school openings and business acquisitions.
  • Drive efficiencies by automating certain manual processes such as utilizing ADP's online pay statements (I-Pay) in lieu of mailing out hard copy statements each pay period.
  • Present business case for replacing manual check process with ADP's Paycards. This will require a cost analysis, business benefit analysis, and detail of exceptions required. Implement process if determined to be cost effective.
  • Develop policy and procedure documentation for all payroll functions. This will be done in conjunction with updating all SOX documentation, as needed, for the Kaplan Inc payroll. Work with the Director of SOX, Policy & Procedures to maximize the value of our documentation.
  • Develop written procedures for all non-standard payroll process (bonuses, executive compensation, relocation & severance payments, etc.).
  • Review biweekly reporting to determine accuracy of payroll.
  • Develop metrics by which to measure payroll team performance and determine areas of improvement.
  • Develop training plans for all payroll team members to further their knowledge and develop potential for advancement to senior or supervisory roles. Focus on technical development, communication skills and analytical review.
  • Determine team structure and organization of tasks so as to maximum skill set of each team member.
  • Develop and Implement cross training plans to cover all processes.
  • Special projects will first focus on the Kaplan Inc payroll but will continue with other school start-ups and acquisitions. Developing written procedures for all functions will aid in cross training team members and assist with SOX documentation. Other projects will include automation of processing such as I-Pay and Paycards.


    Requirements:
  • BA/BS Degree in Human Resources or Finance
  • 10 years experience/training in Payroll/Finance
  • CPP, ADP, Peoplesoft, MS environment, database
  • Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, ability to adapt to change.
  • Strong management and analytical skills.
