Complete Description:

High school graduate. Knowledge of ancillary coding. Current knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes. CPC-H certification is encouraged. Thorough knowledge of Shannon indexing processes. Proficient operating knowledge of OMEGA and ONTRAC. Strong customer service skills.

Responsible for performing account coding, medical necessity checks to secure financial sponsorship and account payment. Utilizing ONTRAC work list, operating knowledge of OMEGA, thoroughly understanding the Ancillary Coding Situation Response Guidelines. Maintaining zero backlogs in ONTRAC based on Due Diligence Guidelines, developing contacts at physician offices to enhance account securing, practicing strong customer service while involving physician offices in the process as necessary. Making decisions, responding to questions, and forwarding information to referring physician payers, patients, and other hospital staff in an independent and appropriate manner.
