Complete Description:
Certified/Registered Medical Assistant or MA diploma with 3 years of back office experience with a strong clinical background to support an Endocrinology Practice on a PRN basis, located on the main campus of Piedmont Hosptial. Performs a variety of clinical and non-clinical duties at the direction of the Practice Manager and/or physicians. The duties outlined will be done on an as needed basis for the physicians in the practice. Reports to the Practice Manager to receive instructions about where support is most needed on any given day. Ability to perform all clerical and administrative duties associated with the Front Office, including but not limited to check-in/check-out duties: greeting patients or visitors; answering phones; scheduling appointments; patient registration and cashiering. Will also be responsible for processing referrals and coordinating pre-certifications for procedures. Ability to perform all clinical duties associated with the Back Office, including but not limited to: escorting patients to exam rooms; obtaining vital signs and other pertinent patient history; accurate data entry into Electronic Medical Record; explaining procedures to patients; stocking/preparing exam rooms; assisting with patient scheduling; following appropriate OSHA or CLIA regulations; performing EKG's, injections, and assisting physicians with other minor procedures as indicated. Proficient phlebotomy skills, venipuncture and ability to use lab order entry software. Basic knowledge of managed care plans, CPT and ICD-9 coding as indicated for laboratory test orders. Follows universal precautions at all times. Ability to perform essential job duties of Medical Records. EMR experience a plus. Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in Front and Back office duties and 3 years experience in a group practice. Computer literate. Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills. Team player who is open to change and flexible to cover others when needed with the ability to multi-task.
