Provides patient assessment, therapeutic Respiratory Care, emergency airway management, mechanical ventilation, patient and family education and diagnostic Respiratory Therapy to all patient populations served by Piedmont Newnan Hospital.& Patient Assessment: Participates as a member of the integrated healthcare team that collects and organizes data regarding the patient's history and physical assessment to formulate an individualized plan of care. Therapeutic Respiratory Therapy: Provides basic O2 therapy, aerosolized medication administration, Chest Physical Therapy, hyperexpansion therapy, airway management and mechanical ventilation. Emergency airway management: Responds as a member of the Code team to provide airway support including intubation for authorized staff members. Responsible for the management of patients that require mechanical ventilation to include non-invasive positive pressure ventilation. Responsible for assessing patient and family needs for education, providing resources necessary and confirming that educational goals have been achieved. Responsible for basic diagnostic Respiratory Therapy to include but not limited to Arterial Blood Gases, screening spirometry, EKGs and pulse oximetry. Certified as a Respiratory Care Practitioner/Professional by the National Board for Respiratory Care. Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy school with a minimum of an Associates degree. Therapists credentialed and licensed as OJT therapists. One year of clinical experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in an accredited school or other Heath care facility. Licensed by the State of Georgia as a Respiratory Care Professional.
