Description

Saint Joseph's facility is Atlanta's oldest hospital. Today, the 410-bed, acute-care facility is recognized as one of the top specialty-referral hospitals in the Southeast. Saint Joseph's has received numerous awards including the distinguished Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence from the American Nurses Association Credentialing Center a designation of best in Georgia and top five percent in the nation for cardiac and vascular programs.

The Clinical Veterinarian assist with supervision and coordination of daily animal care and use operations in support of translational research to determine the safety and efficacy of new, innovative medical devices, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology therapies.

The ideal candidate will have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine DVM degree.
Appropriate state and federal certifications, if applicable. NOTE: Not initially required for foreign graduates. Georgia Law Title 43, Chapter 50, Article 44 - Exemptions:11 does not require a state veterinary license for research veterinarians. One to two years of veterinary practice or closely related experience required. One to two years of research experience preferred. Surgical, catheterization and GLP experience a plus. ACUC familiarity and experience desired. Must be able to perform basic veterinary duties and responsibilities must be able to learn to provide veterinary medicine to U.S. standards of adequate veterinary care. Basic ability to diagnose and treat animals. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common veterinary, scientific, & technical journals. Ability to effectively interface with all professional and technical levels. Ability to write reports, grants and correspondence if necessary. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and/or schedule form. Ability to multitask. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move > 50 pounds.
