Description

Saint Joseph's facility is Atlanta's oldest hospital. Today, the 410-bed, acute-care facility is recognized as one of the top specialty-referral hospitals in the Southeast. Saint Joseph's has received numerous awards including the distinguished Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence from the American Nurses Association Credentialing Center a designation of best in Georgia and top five percent in the nation for cardiac and vascular programs.

The Scheduling Specialist schedules patients for future and same day admissions in addition to outpatient and inpatient surgeries and procedures. Receives call from physician's office with request for surgery or procedure date and time. Utilizes scheduling system to secure date and time and enters patient demographics, procedure s , anesthesia, and special equipment requests. Creates a reservation by entering patient demographics and financial information in the ADT system to establish a medical record and/or account number. Reservation is created for future or same day admission. Maintains database integrity by accurately identifying correct patient. Supports activities of Insurance Verifiers to secure account and Patient Placement for appropriate bed placement. Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with Patient Access Services, other hospital departments, and outside contacts to schedule patients accurately. Prioritizes work for optimal reimbursement and to avoid financial risk to both patient and hospital. Understands role within the Revenue Cycle. Extensive use of keyboarding, multi-tasking skills, and office equipment expected.

The qualified applicant will have two 2 years minimum of work experience in healthcare or equivalent. Previous Scheduling and/or ADT systems experience preferred. High school education diploma or equivalent. Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
