Description

Saint Joseph's facility is Atlanta's oldest hospital. Today, the 410-bed, acute-care facility is recognized as one of the top specialty-referral hospitals in the Southeast. Saint Joseph's has received numerous awards including the distinguished Magnet Recognition for Nursing Excellence from the American Nurses Association Credentialing Center a designation of best in Georgia and top five percent in the nation for cardiac and vascular programs.

The PRN Speech Pathologist evaluates and treats patients demonstrating disorders of communication and/or swallowing, and provides support activities, appropriate to ages served primarily adults ages 18-65 or geriatric patients ages over 65. May also include care for infant age 0-1 year, child ages 1-12 years or adolescent ages 13-17 years. Upon direction of the hospital, the therapist may provide services off-site to include but not be limited to out-patient rehabilitation facilities and doctor's offices. Fulfills all requirements for accreditation by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association ASHA and licensure by the Georgia State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

The ideal candidate will be a graduated with a Master's degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program and has a current license to practice in the state of Georgia. Completion of Clinical Fellowship Year CFY or CFY eligibility with approved Paid Clinical Experience PCE through state licensure board. Minimum of nine months in a medical environment, preferably in an acute care setting. Experience in evaluating and treating acute care inpatients and outpatients with communication and swallowing disorders related to surgical, neurologic, oncologic, traumatic, or functional deficit.
