We offer a personal approach to our orientation program with trained and dedicated preceptors and mentors. We have developed a unit-specific Orthopedic Education Program with mobility training in partnership with Rehabilitation Services. Nurses work as a team with Physicians, Case Managers, Social Services and Rehabilitation Services to plan patient specific care and discharge summaries. Rooms are specific to the orthopedic patient. Furnishings and equipment are geared to patient specific needs. We offer a pre-operative Total Joint Education Program for our patients Orthopedic Center is one half of the 6th floor unit. Nurses are oriented to both the Orthopedic Center and the Urology Surgical/Medical Unit. Associates work on both sides of the unit. When assigning care of patients the associate is usually assigned one hall or the other. If working the Orthopedic hall the associate can expect a 6:1 Nurse/Patient Ratio on any shift. When working the Medical/Surgical hall staffing ratio is 6:1 or 7:1. Staffing of nurses remains the same on all shifts. It is our goal to have a consistent 5:1 nurse/patient ratio.

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current State of Georgia Registered Nurse License. Current ACLS preferred. Minimum 1 year recent Ortho required.
