    Dewberry is seeking a Senior GIS Professional in our Atlanta, GA office. This position will support a wide array of geospatially-enabled analytical efforts for national, regional, and local scale water resources challenges. Candidates will have strong competencies and demonstrated experience using statistical, numerical and computer application techniques to conduct analyses and geospatial products. This includes development of water resources or related, enterprise and cloud implementations of geospatial web and desktop applications. Candidates will have strong skills with proficiency in a range of important tools such as ESRI ArcGIS technologies (including ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE Java Script and Flex API), and MS SQL Server.


    This position will mostly focus on advanced GIS analyses and production efforts in support of FEMA Flood Insurance Studies, and other water resource related projects in our Atlanta, GA office. This is an excellent career opportunity for an individual to join a team of professionals while working in a multidisciplinary consulting and engineering firm. The position offers great potential for professional growth and the opportunity to apply the latest technology to flood studies and water resource projects. Typical responsibilities are to work on water resources projects for federal, state and local clients.

    • Work on consulting projects for federal, state, and local government agency clients.
    • Support large scale geospatial analytical modeling efforts to identify hazards, assess risk, and evaluate risk reduction methods.
    • Apply statistical, numerical and/or computer application techniques to analyze water resources issues.
    • Assisting engineers in hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, modeling, and floodplain mapping;
    • Production of Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMS) and updating related geospatial databases;
    • Developing flood risk products and performing flood risk assessments;
    • Perform analysis on GIS datasets for flood hazard mapping and risk projects;
    • Checking for technical accuracy of GIS and geospatial deliverables and associated reports;
    • Coordinating with the project team, project managers, clients, local communities, and other contractors to compile all data necessary to produce the most up-to-date product


    Required Skills & Required Experience

    Must have experience that demonstrates a strong background in application of GIS and skills to execute efficient solutions. The candidate should have strong organizational skills, as well as the ability to multi-task and work independently and as a team player.

    • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or related field.
    • 10 years of experience in the GIS Field.
    • In-depth knowledge of ESRI's software, including ArcGIS 10x.
    • Strong MS Excel and MS Access skills to leverage various data sources for use in GIS projects
    • Experience / knowledge in geospatial programming using Python.
    • Experience developing for the ESRI platform (ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Server, ArcObjects, ArcSDE, Arc Engine).
    • Knowledge of the National Flood Insurance Program is preferred
    • Innovation, enthusiasm, and creativity - ability to develop new ideas and to chart a path
    • Ability to effectively juggle multiple tasks concurrently
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    Desired Skills:

    • Knowledge of the National Flood Insurance Program is preferred
    • CFM (Certified Floodplain Manager) is a strong plus
    • Knowledge of FEMA's MIP tracking and reporting system a plus
    • Knowledge of Watershed Planning a plus
