Position Summary

The HR Generalist supports the HRBP with the day-to-day functional responsibilities for the Fresh Express- Morrow Facility.  The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: departmental development, employee relations, training and development, recruitment of exempt and non-exempt positions, compensation, organizational development, and Workday Personnel transactions. Implements human resources programs by providing human resources services, including FLMA, STD, ADA, employment processing, compensation, training and development, succession planning, employee relations and retention, AA/EEO compliance, and labor relations; completing personnel transactions In addition, the incumbent will oversee a HR Representative and Administrative Assistant and is considered a member of the management team

Position Functions

  • Responsible for overseeing the entire Employee Relations process which includes investigations, employee complaints, helpline calls, grievances, and maintaining the employee relations log
  • Responsible for overseeing the entire FLMA process. 
  • Responsible for overseeing Administrative Assistant and employee relations programs for the facility
  • Provides management team support by attending business meetings and assisting with the resolution of business challenges and process improvement
  • Develops human resources solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action
  • Conduct monthly audit/review of Workday to ensure accuracy of employee information
  • Responsible for developing annual calendar of training and ensuring execution of training programs
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving Performance Reviews for employees Graded H and below and non-exempt non-graded associates. Provide necessary support with the Perform to Grow Process
  • Conduct monthly internal audits of I-9s and audits functions that directly report to him/her including but not limited to E-verify, ER log, pre-employment, AAP, and other required processes
  • Completes special projects by clarifying project objective; setting timetables and schedules; conducting research; developing and organizing information; fulfilling transactions
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Position Skills & Qualifications Desired

  • PHR or SPHR certified
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • AS400, Kronos, Ceridian, or Workday experience
  • Computer literate (MS Office: Excel, Word and Power Point)
  • Knowledge of Affirmative Action Plans and Illinois Employment Law
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills
  • Thorough knowledge of employment law
  • Must possess a high degree of cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Strong communication/interpersonal skills
  • Solid business knowledge and state/federal employment law

Position Experience Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of progressive HR experience in manufacturing
  • Previous experience working in a Union environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop culture change
  • HR processes, policy, and procedure development and implementation skills

Position Education & Training Preferred

  • BA/BS degree in related field or equivalent experience
