Overall Job Objective


Location: Whitfield County Health Department (WIC Clinic) - Dalton, Georgia

Job Responsibilities

Under supervision, plans and conducts service or nutritional programs to assist in the promotion of health and control of disease. Provides nutritional assessment, education and counseling to individuals, groups or the public. Serves as a resource on nutrition and dietetics to nurses, health educators or other health care providers in the facility.

  • Advises clients and their families on nutritional principles, dietary plans and diet modifications, and food selection and preparation.
  • Assesses nutritional needs, diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-care plans and provide nutritional counseling.
  • Consults with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of client.
  • Counsels individuals and groups on basic rules of good nutrition, health eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in dietetics, human nutrition, foods and nutrition, nutrition education, food systems management or a closely related field from an accredited college or university AND Verification statement of completion of a didactic program accredited by The Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience with the Georgia WIC program
Two years of experience providing nutrition care to groups and individuals

Physical Requirements
Health-related positions involving direct contact with or exposure to airborne or blood-borne pathogens. Some positions may involve moderate to heavy physical activity, as in Category 2, but the overriding distinction comes from the environmental factors including hazardous chemicals, radiation or airborne pathogens.

CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.
