Job Description

Overall Job Objective

Class Summary

The Department of Financial Services oversees the financial operations of Gwinnett County in compliance with state and federal laws, ensuring fiscal responsibility and superior bond ratings. Department functions include, but are not limited to:  financial record administration, budget administration and preparation, grant management and oversight, cash and investment management, vendor and employee payment, debt issuance and monitoring, self-insurance and liability programs management, procurement and contracts operations management, tax assessor administration, and strategic program design and deployment.

The Risk Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the benefits section in the Employee Service Center. Incumbents supervise staff, manage systems, and assist in the request for proposal process. Incumbents are assigned to a division within the Finance Department. 

This position is a grade C431.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field 
  • Four years of claims/benefits experience, supervisory experience preferred; 
  • or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Preferred Experience:
  • Supervisory/management experience
  • Automobile, general liability and property claim handling experience
  • Bodily injury claim handling experience, CMS (Medicare) compliance knowledge preferred
  • Litigation claim handling experience
  • Experience managing/working with vendors to include excess insurance carriers
  • Experience working as a team with a legal department
  • Risk management information system experience, preferably Riskconnect
  • Financial system experience, preferably SAP
