The School Psychologist provides psychological evaluation services including, but not limited to, assessments, reports, providing related educational recommendations, consultation, therapy, and any other applicable educational services for students of the school. This role serves as manager and point of contact for school-based and contract school psychology staff.

  • Ensures all newly received documents (evaluation team reports, etc.) are compliant; Takes the necessary steps to ensure compliance when necessary; Ensures all existing documents are compliant following the guidelines set forth by the state.
  • Demonstrates understanding of criteria for all areas of eligibility according to Georgia DOE rules/guidelines.
  • Demonstrates competency in administering a variety of assessment instruments and techniques and working with students with a variety of disabilities.
  • Serves as member of the Response to Intervention team when needed
  • Serves as team member for MDR meetings and tracks SE disciplinary withdrawal data
  • Leads monthly supervision meetings with assigned team.
  • Assists the Assistant Director in developing/leading/participating in professional development for the general education staff, special education staff, and parents of students in special education programs;
  • Works closely with guidance counselors to provide training in various emotional health areas
  • Practices in accordance to Federal, State and County regulations and professional ethics
  • Supervises, evaluates, and manages the internal school psychology team; serves as department chair
  • Provides presentations/professional learning for departmental staff and other groups as needs are identified
  • Recruit and screen potential contract Psychologists
  • Provide consultative services for high profile cases involving attorneys
  • Attend Due Process Hearings as district representative
  • Assign all referred students to either staff or contracted psychologists to for assessments
  • Review all submitted contractor psychological reports for accuracy
  • Create eligibility reports with information from received psychological evaluations
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:Directly supervises Full-time Equivalent (FTE) regular employees and contractors. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Specialist Degree or equivalent degree hours in School Psychology
  • 5 years of experience as a school psychologist OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates and Licenses: Current state certification/licensure in school psychology

Other Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel; Web proficiency
  • Ability to travel throughout the state including overnight up to 25% of the time in order to administer assessments, and outside of the state for professional development
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time
  • Ability to pass required background check
