Position Summary

The Product Strategist position is an integral part of the commercial team, working together with business development, sales and marketing, industry partners and most importantly the customer. This role requires a strategic thinker with industry experience who can translate customer challenges and needs into value-based products and services. Initially, this person will help strategize, build and maintain the companies first manage service offering - a customized Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Desktop as a Service (DaaS) platform targeted towards several key construction industry segments. This “virtual workspace” will support various customized construction software stacks that enable powerful BIM and CAD workflows for both VDC teams and fabrication teams.

The Product Strategist’s key responsibility when joining the team will be to deliver this initial managed service to the market quickly: executing with a sense of urgency. The CAISSON Virtual Workspace will not be a static product, but a continued managed service provided to our customers that requires an experienced leader in place to manage the on-going product life cycle. The role will evolve as the business grows and will include responsibilities for bringing additional products and services to market. The Product Strategist will work closely with both internal commercial teams and key external relationships. He or she will work closely with our Construction Technologists and Strategic Account Managers to ensure that the products & services we deliver to our customers exceed their expectations and deliver measurable value. He or she will also provide technical sales support to these internal teams during product launch and assist with product training as these teams grow. Lastly, this person will be accountable for building strong customer relationships within the industry as well as strategic partnerships with complimentary construction technology firms in the space.

In this role, the Product Strategist will be required to travel to engage with prospects, build industry partnerships and visit directly with end users to gather VOC (estimated at 25% or more).
 
Main Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external teams to launch successful POC’s of the CAISSON Virtual Workspace.
  • Lead licensing and pricing strategies
  • Build and organization standardized software stack configurations to meet client needs.
  • Lead efforts to provide file exchange environment to match client needs.
  • Lead efforts to establish and test templates for the unique desktops needed.
  • Lead system integration workflows and requirements with developers and product management teams.
  • Work quickly to move from POC’s to MVPs of this initial product
  • Develop, deliver and own the product & services portfolio and on-going roadmap
  • Develop and own the product(s) Voice of Customer (VOC) strategy and life cycle management.
  • Leverage assets and teams across Stanley Black & Decker where necessary to maximize speed and agility.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Team to build product positioning, collateral, supporting content and commercialization efforts. 
  • Take part in public marketing and product training and education.
  • Represent our brands in public speaking engagements as an expert in the industry and be an overall brand advocate.
 
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline(s)
  • Five (5) or more years leading a managed services portfolio.
  • Experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Desktop as a Service (DaaS) delivery methods.
  • Construction experience supporting VDC teams within commercial construction.
  • Background and proven success in Strategic Planning and Agile Methods to Project Management.
