Agriculture Inspector 1

Under general supervision, performs routine inspections and comprehensive investigations to determine compliance with applicable state law; writes technical reports and other correspondence; provides guidance to the regulated community and public; inspects and investigates complaints and/or suspected violations; inspects various facilities and/or equipment for accuracy, sanitation, and compliance; collects and/or assists with collection of various samples; other duties as assigned.
Vocational/Technical degree in agriculture, horticulture, environmental science, pest control, entomology or a closely related field from an accredited college OR High school diploma or GED AND One year of experience in the area of assignment OR Two years of college, which included 12 semester hours or 20 quarter hours in chemistry or life sciences.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants, who, in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, possess knowledge, skills and abilities in the following areas:
•Three years of experience in horse training, breeding or equine facility management and/or at least one year of experience in a pet industry related field (i.e. veterinary clinic/hospital, boarding/breeding kennel, animal shelter or pet store);
•Experience or familiarity of laws and regulations pertaining to companion animals, equine and/or animal health;
•Bachelor's degree in animal science or related field; and/or
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
