POSITION: Banner Specialist

REPORTS TO: Student Accounts Manager

SALARY RANGE: Upper $30's, depending on education and experience

EFFECTIVE: This position is available now

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision, is responsible for and participates in the processing and maintaining of student accounts and related records in the Banner Software system. These functions include assessment, billing, collection, refunding and accounting of students' tuition, fees, financial aid, loan accounts, third party receivables and other institutional receivables in Banner software. Confirms that student tuition and fee revenue is accurate and recorded timely in compliance with all applicable policies and procedures of the Technical College System and the State Accounting Office. Assures that Banner software processes are reviewed and reporting from Banner is accurate.

Major Duties:
•Maintain and update Banner and RTS Manager (on-line Student Web Payment Portal) tables for terms, detail codes etc. that are critical for proper accounting in Banner and RTS Manager.
•Perform Term close out as well as Third Party Contract balancing and rollover in Banner.
•Reconcile Financial Aid and Bookstore files each semester that interface to Banner.
•Verify that Cashier Station receipts are properly received, recorded, balanced and deposited at all campus locations.
•Run necessary processes to compile Banner information for revenue accounting. Prepare Accounting Feed Reconciliation Report for Account Receivable Specialist's use in posting Banner revenue, receivable and cash transactions into State's PeopleSoft Accounting System.
•Run Banner queries to monitor payment application process, outstanding Student Receivables, credit balances, etc. to ensure accuracy of Student Accounts in Banner.
•Process Student refunds from a Banner file to BankMobile, the College's Third Party payment provider.
•Work with Registrar, IT department and Financial Aid Director on purge of Students due to non-payment and subsequent reinstatements.
•Develop and update Banner procedures as necessary and clearly communicates changes to staff in a timely manner.
•Maintain confidentiality of records, files and other documentation.
•Maintain complete, accurate, and readily accessible files that conform to applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines.
•Other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
•Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or closely related field;
•Two (2) years of experience working in Banner Software in Student Accounts area;
•Accounting work experience
NOTE: Work experience may substitute for degree on a year-for-year basis

COMPETENCIES:
•Extensive knowledge and experience with Banner Software.
•Skill in the operation of computers & job-related software programs, i.e. Microsoft Office Suite
•Effective oral and written communication skills
•Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
•Effective decision making and problem solving skills

Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to minimum qualifications & competencies):
•More than two (2) years of experience working in a Banner Software;
•Work experience in a post-secondary environment.
