Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: 
Under general supervision, incumbents who serve in this position: 
Inspect and enforce adherence to laws and regulations governing health and safety. May perform environmental tests and/or safety inspections. Investigates incidents and complaints.  May recommend repairs.  Uniform allowance and State vehicle upon availability. 
 

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
1.  This is a field position and inspectors shall work out of their home.  This field position has a minimum geographical residency requirement.  This position's central headquarters is located in the downtown Atlanta/Capitol Hill area; AND

 

2.  Candidates must possess a reliable personal vehicle; AND

 

3. Minimum of two (2) years "relative" experience inspecting and enforcing codes for buildings, facilities, etc., according to county, state and national guidelines, laws and regulations.  Specifically, certified as a GFSTC Fire Inspector I; AND


4. NFPA, CFI Certified Fire Inspector I.


 

Please Note: "Other" fire service experience possessed without these Building Code Inspector job specific requirements will not satisfy this job's minimum entry requirements.

High school diploma or GED AND One year of experience OR One year of experience at the lower level Hlth & Safety Inspector 1 (RCT030) or position equivalent.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFIC PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


In addition to the minimum qualifications, preferred candidates shall:
Possess at least three (3) to (4) years experience performing inspections, adjustments and overseeing compliance with local, county or state codes, guidelines, laws and regulations.
