Job Description

Job Responsibilities: As an employee of the State of Georgia, The Hourly Support Service Worker is responsible for helping Georgia's citizens obtain the legal documents for driver licenses, identity cards, and permits in compliance with state laws and regulations.

Tasks Include:

 

o Working with citizens to ensure applications, records and documents are completed accurately.

o Accompanying drivers in vehicles to evaluate their ability to adhere to Georgia's driving laws.

o Conducting driving examinations for motorcycle and commercial licenses in accordance with state law and regulations.

o Operating visual testing equipment.

o Accurately collecting payments via cash or credit cards

Working Conditions:

 

Road tests are conducted throughout the year in a variety of weather conditions including rain, wind, summer heat and cold winter days. Testing begins in the early morning hours and continues through the early evening hours. The test runs approximately 30 minutes.

 

Other important things you should know:

 

Applications should be filled out carefully to be considered complete.  An incomplete application with insufficient information will not be considered.

 

Employees may be scheduled to work up to 29 hours per week.

 

 

Conditions of Employment:

 

A valid Georgia driver's license is required and must be maintained while employed in this position. Non-Georgia residents must have a recognized equivalent license. If a valid Georgia driver's license has not been held for at least three years at the time of application, you will be required to obtain a Motor Vehicle record from the previous state of licensure prior to hire.

 

o Successful completion of the CCKE (Certified Commercial Knowledge Examiner) Certification, a national certification is required by all employees who issue driver's licenses.

 

o Employees who conduct CDL (Commercial Driver's License) road tests must successfully complete the CDL Examiner Certification and the CCE (Certified Commercial Examiner) Certification

 

o Employees must maintain these requirements to continue employment with DDS.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED. At least 18 years of age. A valid Class C Georgia Driver's License. Comfortable working with computer and internet technology.

 

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age

• Completion of a high school diploma or GED is required

• A valid Georgia Class C or equivalent License is required and must be maintained while employed in this position.

• At least one (1) year of Face-to-face Customer Service experience within the last five years

• At least one (1) year of recent Face-to-face experience with cash transactions including handling cash, daily reconciliation, and processing credit card payments within the last five years

 

Preferred Qualifications:

At least three (3) years of Face-to-face Customer Service experience within the last five years

• At least three (3) years of recent Face-to-face experience with cash transactions including handling cash, daily reconciliation, and processing credit card payments within the last five years

 

• Live within 30 miles of the Customer Service Center for which you are applying

 

• Bilingual skillset preferred
