The Director, of Business Intelligence will build and lead a highly-talented team with core knowledge of Business Intelligence and Data Science. This team provides access to clean data, drives decision making using simple and advanced analytical techniques, and builds data products. This team partners with product and engineering to enable real-time decisions including forecasting, and resource optimization.

We are looking for a proven leader with experience building teams, guiding application of data science and machine learning methods, with an eye and passion for data quality, and the ability to connect analytics to business impact. The ideal person will lead and grow the existing team to amplify impact through the combination of analytical and tooling innovation, scaled execution, science leadership, data partnership, and high pace of execution.

Responsibilities:

  • The Director of Business Intelligence manages the overall BI function and will manage a small team of analysts
  • Innovate, find new ways to increase efficiencies in business by applying Data Science & AI
  • Lead the global team of Data Scientist & Data Analyst working on cutting edge data science solutions
  • Apply deep math & statistics knowledge to design and build predictive models using python
  • Design and build models using text analytics by applying NLP/NLU
  • Surface trends and insights with various internal audiences (Product Support, Products, Executives, and others)
  • Own dashboard visualizations answering key questions across teams and surfacing KPIs on the team and overall company level
  • Monitor and surface insights to improve efficiency of our activities and hone our product support strategy
  • Ensure data integrity by tracking discrepancies between data sources and attribution methodologies
  • Oversee the Business Intelligence / Reporting and Database Teams in the design, development, management and support of reporting and database applications used across the enterprise
  • Set the vision and roadmap for improvements in the architecture, governance, visualization, and integration of data across various data domains and departments, while ensuring the firm meets industry best practices
  • Monitor and surface insights to improve efficiency of our activities and hone our product support strategy
  • Lead regular staff meetings
  • Managing and administering a departmental budget
  • Managing vendors and contracts associated with some of the underlying projects
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by his/her supervisor

Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in a Business-related field or equivalent experience required
  • MBA Preferred
  • Minimum of 7 -10 years of business intelligence, data warehouse and analytical expertise
  • Preferred working experience in tax and accounting or software and information services industries
  • Proven track record in innovation
  • 3+ years of experience in data science i.e. AI & Machine Learning
  • Respectable amount of exposure to NLP (Natural Language Processing) & text mining techniques
  • 7+ years of Data Analytics experience w/ extensive experience in databases & visualization
  • Experience with reporting tools preferably Tableau
  • Exposure to cloud-based databases, preferably AWS
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ability to confidently communicate with senior management and present clear, actionable insights and recommendations
  • Must be well-organized – candidate must show evidence of successfully implemented strategies and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously and remain focused
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present results to all levels of the organization including senior management.  Included is the ability to write easy to understand, concise reports, with the ability to summarize large amounts of data into manageable / actionable content
  • Ability to understand business problems and turn into actionable project plans
  • 10-15% Travel required
