Job Description

The YMCA of Metro Atlanta serves more than 300,000 individuals with 23 full facilities and ten additional camping and childcare locations. The Y provides financial assistance to support more than 25,000 youth, teens and families. The Y offers programs that serve kids, adults and families at all stages of life. As the largest provider of early learning and after-school programs in Georgia, the Y is closing the achievement gap for Atlanta youth. During the teen years, the Y focuses on leadership development to prepare teens to connect to and serve their communities. A leader in healthy living, the Y offers youth sports and wellness programs designed to help kids and adults live healthier and be more active. A strong community can only be achieved when we invest in our kids, our health and our neighbors. Under the direction of the Afterschool Director, the Afterschool Site Counselor is able to assist with providing an excellent program of care and enrichment for school age youth. The counselor also carries out the planned program as directed.

Know How:

1.)Must be 18 years or older.

2.)Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.

3.)Must have prior experience working with school-age children in a group setting. A licensed setting is preferred.

4.) Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

5.) Must receive a cleared GCIC and NCIC before working. A cleared fingerprint must be received within 90 days of employment to continue working. Annual GCIC checks will be conducted before ­the beginning of each school year.

6.) Program knowledge of and ability to implement environmental education, crafts, games, Youth Fit For Life program, Kids Litz, Math Litz and Flocabulary.

7.)Must be able to assist with the annual campaign also known as the WHY IT MATTERS “friendraising” and fundraising initiatives.

8.) Must pass a Motor Vehicles Record Check to drive YMCA approved vehicle.

9.) Must have own transportation to travel to various locations.
