The YMCA of Metro Atlanta serves more than 300,000 individuals with 23 full facilities and ten additional camping and childcare locations. Under the direction of the Early Learning Program Director(s), the Early Learning Teacher is responsible for the assistance of the delivery of a high quality educational experience for the children under his/her care. He/She must assist in implementing weekly lesson plans that support the curriculum and developmental levels of the students. All decisions must be guided by the goals of Bright From the Start, YMCA and NAEYC standards.

Know How:

Must be 21 years of age.
Must possess a minimum of a Child Development Associate or higher in Early Childhood Education.
Have prior experience working with children younger than five in a licensed program. (NAEYC a plus)
Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Must provide proof of annual TB results and Physical before first day of employment.
Must receive a cleared GCIC and NCIC before working. Annual GCIC checks are conducted before each school year begins.

Establishes goals, clarifies tasks, plans work and actively participates in meetings. Follows budgeting policies and procedures, and reports

Essential Functions:

Assist in planning and implementing the program according YMCA, State Licensing and NAEYC standards
Must obtain First Aid/CPR within 90 days of hire and maintain the certification.
Attend BFTS, YMCA and other trainings as scheduled.
Assist in maintaining various documents to remain compliant.
Consult with the Director(s) on concerns related to student(s) development or behavior before speaking with the parent(s).
Assist in maintaining compliance with the Creative Curriculum guidelines.
Must adhere to NAEYC code of ethical conduct at all times.
Assist in engaging families to participate in the program.
Perform other duties as related to the delivery of a quality program.

Ergonomic Requirements: Bending, stooping, standing, lifting up to 40 pounds, seeing, verbal communication and hearing. Annual TB and Physical must be submitted.

Effect on end Result:

Children and Families will experience a high quality early learning program. Children will be supervised at all times. Staff will comply with all rules and regulations of BFTS, NAEYC and the YMCA.

Hours: Full Time, non-exempt
